GENERAL
INFO ON GICLEE PRINTS
All
prints onto canvas will have a 3 inch white border, this is to enable
stretching. Prints onto paper will have a ½ - 1 inch border.
We
can have your print stretched onto frames (at a price) or you can
easily get it
done yourself by any reputable framer/art shop. The advantage of
getting it
done yourself is the freight costs will be much cheaper, especially for
overseas buyers, we would send you the prints rolled up in a postal
mail tube.
Freighting a stretched canvas is more involved and costly but of course
the
choice is yours and I can quote you both options. Framing is also
possible,
please email for quote.
The
print onto canvas is of high quality. This is a quote from the printers
website.
ÒThe prints produced are known as 'Pigment on Cotton',
'Pigment on Rag' or 'Giclee Prints'. Pigments on cotton rag papers have
proven
to be highly archival (consider for example Rembrandt's etchings - they
were
made using pigment inks on cotton papers). The process we use is now
generally
regarded as one of the most stable colour printing processes available
at this
time - far more stable than traditional RA4 chemistry (i.e.
photographic lab)
prints - and more beautiful as well! Even Cibachrome/Ilfochrome and
traditional
fibre based black and white prints no longer offer any advantage over
the
pigment on rag process, with manufacturer independent testing
suggesting life
spans of pigment prints comparable to, or exceeding, traditional silver
based
chemistry prints.
There is currently no other process that offers the
combination of flexibility, control, beauty and longevity of Pigment on
Cotton.Ó
